23 Sep Building Cervin du Parc du Simplon Renens
From September 2024, Parc du Simplon will house just over 400 additional employees at SBB’s regional headquarters in the Matterhorn building below. The building complies with Minergie-P standards and is aiming for the prestigious DGNB gold label 🏆
In addition to the traditional offices, it will house SBB’s Western Operations Centre 🚆 replacing the one in Lausanne, a veritable control tower for rail traffic in French-speaking Switzerland.
The main requirement of the project, two control rooms with an open plan for a total of 100 special workstations, sets the pace for the construction. A two-metre-wide cantilever extends over the third floor, providing the necessary space for offices while freeing up more space on the ground floor for pedestrian traffic 🚶♂️ and any interventions by public services.
The stick curtain wall façade is fitted with a burglar-proof system at all levels of the building.
The building’s unique verticality, achieved using extruded aluminium profiles, required the manufacture of 13 dies in three different widths (50 mm, 76 mm and 150 mm). The widest profiles conceal the roof rainwater drainage system, designed to run outside the building to prevent water infiltration and ensure greater safety. 🔒
