17 Sep Tram des Nations Bridge, Geneva
The 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐜̧𝐨𝐧 for the Tram des Nations Bridge left our workshop at the start of the week 🔥
And this is just the start of a project involving nearly 3,000 tonnes of steel❗
Weighing 33 tonnes and measuring 20 metres in length, these first two caissons form one of the four sections of the deck for the 104-metre bowstring main span over the motorway. 💪
These dimensions are already impressive… but they represent only part of the future Nations–Grand-Saconnex tram bridge, which will be nearly 250 metres long!
These two welded composite side caissons will be connected to one another by cross-braces, and 📢 steel plates up to 80 mm thick were used in their manufacture. That’s… 8 centimetres of steel.
Whilst the first components are leaving our workshops today, a real adventure still awaits our welders on site, as the ENTIRE steel structure will be assembled directly on site.
So stay tuned… the first images of the assembly are coming soon! 👀
